success in the garden

1. Nature has quite the sense of humor. All of our lettuce died except this head that decided to travel outside of its designated area and grow out from underneath the box! But thanks to this one lonely head, we can say that none of our crops died out completely (yet). Everything else is starting to flower, and I check on each plant every day with anxious anticipation.

2. The peas have been doing amazingly well! We are eating fresh peas almost every day now, and they taste sooo good! I don't want the pea season to end.

3. I acquired a lawn ornament for our garden at a yard sale for 50 cents! It needs a name. We have signs and a rabbit now, so our garden must be official.

Our peas are crazy, but they are just now flowering. We got a later start, I think. Our pumpkins are flowering too--so pretty! Beans are flowering...we have a little spinach left after the Bandit stole it (you should name that Bunny, "Bandit"). I've used the basil, but that's it so far. The cilantro is about tall enough to hop into some salsa.

Bandit would be a cute name for it!! My cilantro died off but my other herbs (parsley, basil, and rosemary) are doing well! I put a little in my stir fries and pasta every week now. I can't wait to come see your little garden! It sounds wonderful.

Very cool! My garden is going crazy, lots of basil, and jalapenos. I have a pineapple tomato that is really taking off, although I planted it late so I'm anxious to see if I get any fruit from it. Your peas look great! You would really love my brother's garden. I'll post some pics of it sometime. When do you leave for grad school?

Mary, yes, definitely post pictures of your garden and your brother's! Pineapple tomato...I haven't heard of that! I'll have to look it up. The peas were amazing, I'm sad their season has ended. I leave at the beginning of September! Let's get together again before then!
