number nineteen

Today, One Lonely Apricot has been featured on the blog of Kate, owner of I Do Details event planning, located in Charlotte, North Carolina! You can read the article here! Her father received one of my save-the-dates in the mail and she liked it enough to track me down and interview me. Thank you so much, Kate, it means a lot!

Speaking of One Lonely Apricot, I've been a little absent from the blogging world (I've been preparing for my impending move to graduate school!) but One Lonely Apricot has been going strong. I made my first map in May of last year and am currently working on my nineteenth design! I am interested to see where One Lonely Apricot goes from here, and I have many ideas if I can only find the time to make them happen.

instant pictures are back

I got a Fuji Instax and shot a wedding with it! I love it. I thought it could never be as good as my old Polaroid, but it's the perfect substitute, and the camera itself is super cute (I got the mini)!

save the date

New doodle project! This was a custom-designed save-the-date map! Such maps are available for commission by way of my Etsy.

Some favorites from the most recent wedding I photographed, Meredith & Chris!

Surprise! I was even asked to doodle and hand-write the program.

tim & meagan

Today I photographed Tim and Meagan's wedding! I had a great time. I'll post more pictures tomorrow. I have so many to go through!

p.s. That butterfly landing on Meagan's bouquet was totally coincidental! It made for an awesome photo opp.

professional doodler?

This is the doodled save-the-date map I've been working on for some time now! It's finally finished...and I have already been commissioned for more doodling! How very exciting.

a few more...

A few more of the engagement pictures I took yesterday!

Yep, the couple are big Harry Potter fans and had tickets for the midnight release, so I said, hey, would you like a picture in front of the theater at the end of the shoot, before you wait in line? So we did it!

Today I shot some fun engagement photos! I had a great time. The wedding is in September. Here are some of my favorites from today's shoot:

hello, weddings

1. This drawing is from a save-the-date I was hired to design! I'm nearly finished with it, so I'll post a bigger peek when it's completed.

2. I was also asked if I could design some bracelets as bridesmaids gifts for a September wedding! Yes, I'd love to! I will be playing around with some polymer clay samples shortly.

3. And I had no sooner told her that yes, I'd love to do the bracelets, when she saw my photos from Matt and Sarah's wedding and asked if I could do the photography as well...and the engagement photos! It's such a thrill, really. I can't wait! We'll be doing the engagements at the end of this week or beginning of next week, I believe.

4. Needless to say, getting freelance jobs is always very exciting! I hope these lead to even more. I'd like to post a special thank you to everyone who has given me these jobs recently, as well as everyone who's been so supportive of my work. It's really a great feeling for everything to come together like this.

going to the chapel

I had a lot of fun at Matt and Sarah's wedding yesterday! The ceremony was in Sarah's beautiful hometown church, and was followed by a great reception at the Memphis Zoo! I had a fantastic time (thanks to my charming date, Corey) and am pleased with how my first wedding pictures turned out. Here are just a few of my favorites.

winnings & weddings

My apologies for not updating sooner. It's been a busy week! A few things...

1. Margherita pizza. Made at a local restaurant from local ingredients. Lovely.

2. Portrait shoot with Gillian.

(favorite)

3. I entered to win a giveaway on one of my favorite blogs, Design Is Mine, and won! I win these four prints from Print + Press--two photographs and two screenprints. They will look great in frames when I move (soon!).

4. My friends' wedding tomorrow! Taking a little roadtrip to go see them tie the knot. I'm not the official photographer, but I took their engagement pictures and have been asked to take additional pictures at the wedding as well. It'll be my first time doing any photos at a wedding, so I'm excited to get that experience without the pressure of "not messing anything up" that comes with being the only photographer.
